Pray for the best, Prepare for the worst
First things first we want to have a moment of silence for Michael
Jackson..........Now lets get down to bizness. They say time brings
change and change comes with time. I guess it was a matter of time
before it happened to me. You all read the news. Me and speedo have been
traded to Golden State for Jamal Crawford.
Man, honestly I don't know how to feel. One moment I'm happy and the
next I'm sad. I'm happy because it feels good to be wanted and I feel
like I will get a chance to play. Lets be honest Coach Woodson never
respected my game. I feel like a rookie again. Fresh new start excited
for what's about to come. You can say I got a chip on my shoulder cause
I do. Mark the day I return to Atlanta on your calender. I know I'm
waiting for the new schedule to come out.
I'm sad cause although I didn't get to play, I had some of the best
teammates you can ask for. Everyone was cool like family. Speedo said
the first time is the hardest. My man Greasy (Mario West) was like my closest
teammate. I wish he could come with me. Man, this year has been crazy
and the season aint even started yet. I want to know what you guys
think. Let me know if you feel Golden States a better situation for me,
or Atlanta was better.
Like they say pray for the best and prepare for the worst. Til next time
good people.
I CANT WAIT TO GET WITH MY NEW TEAMMATES/ FAMILY OUT IN GOLDEN STATE!!

Well obviously I'm biased since I'm out here in Golden State, but I'm so excited to have you here as a Warrior!! Get some PT and show everyone what you can do!!
-
I think Golden State is definitely the better fit. You're right, Woodson never respected you and he never played you. I was so excited when you first came to the Hawks since I thought you were gonna be our point guard for the future. I think you could have been if Woody gave you that chance. I really do wish the best for you and I'll still be a fan of you no matter what. You'll be great, I don't doubt that at all. As for Speedy, I just wish he stays healthy enough to get some playing time. Good luck with the Warriors, but I have to stay true to my Hawks. I'll still be rooting for the Hawks even if GSW comes to town.
P.S. I still I have this ball that you signed two years ago when you were still a rookie sitting on this computer desk I'm on right now.
-
I watched you play here at Texas A&M and I am excited to see you play this next season at Golden State. It will be cool to see you with that swagga back!
-
I'll be honest here. I think that Monta will be traded this season, the front office and him have not seen eye to eye since the moped thing. Speedy won't ever dress in an Oakland uniform. CJ Watson will probably be signed by another team. So it's going to be you, Steph Curry, and Monta (until the Warriors front office decide to make another move).
I guess it's pretty easy to get into Coach Nelson's doghouse, just ask Marcus Williams who was touted as the Dubs starting PG in 08-09, then saw action in only 9 games. Nellie gives pt to the guys that work their butts off in practice and can translate that to real games. I hope that you'll get a chance to show your stuff. -
im sure us warrior fans do understand 100% why you feeling sad at this point i mean hey we lost a good ball handler we loved Jamal for the short time he's played for us..everytime he touched the ball i could feel all of us thinking in our heads.."man i hope Nellie keeps him..Jamal has to stay" ..personally im kind of jealous about this blog because when we lost Baron all he blogged about right after was how happy he is to be in the Clippers maybe it was just a sign of him needing to just move on..but back to you and honestly think about this if you think being in the hawks aside of having good friends in that team but the fans there cheered and supported your game..imagine how us warrior fans will support you if you earn that playing time. i know you wanna hear and experience what everybody is talking about that happens in the oracle. the biggest energy boost you get from the roar from the fans and you could only get it here in The Bay. the fans are legit!
-
I agree with most of what you said, but please don't act like the Oracle is so much better than Philips. Philips Arena was one of the loudest arenas last season and we proved that we can boost our players by us screaming our lungs off by winning 31 out of our 41 games at home. Golden State and the Oracle Arena has one of the best fans and one of the most loyal fans, but I think Atlanta just has the better fans.
-
yeah i gotta agree with lil man (Hawksno1fan) Atlanta fans are legit. I dont think there is a louder arena in all of the NBA. Philips is crunk and Acie and them would feed off of us. Im still a fan of the team Not AT ALL the coach and GMs. The Atl fans is ride or die and the Acie Law fans are going to follow him to Golden State and hold it down for him too...Im bitter bout the situation but cant even agree with that. . Atlanta fans always .keep it one hunnit!! true speech
-
i had no intentions saying we was better than yall my whole point of what i said was trying to let Acie read something so he can keep his head up and know we'd show him love equally the way we do to our players in Golden State if he earns his playing time cuz us Warrior fans do know how F'd up Don Nelson can be with our player's playing time. the both of you had my words twisted.
-
I sorta agree with you when you say Woody never respected your game. I don't think he really gave you an opportunity to shine. How much of that has to do with your injuries? i don't know. When they brought Bibby in, i thought he was going to stay in Atlanta for two seasons to take you under his wing and prepare you to be our starting PG. Unfortunately, that was not the case. I say unfortunately because I saw you play in College and no doubt you were blessed with an amazing talent. All fans here wanted to see you take precedence as you did in College... may be we'll get to see you do it for Golden State. Good luck man!
-
Good luck Acie. We had hoped that you had more of an opportunity to play in Atlanta. Golden State has a wide open offense with Coach Nelson and it would be very interesting to see you alongside Monte Ellis and Corey Maggette.
Maintain your offensive aggressiveness, attack the rim (often) and make your teammates better and I guarantee you will have a long productive career with Golden State.
Peace. -
I am so happy for you brother! I had to blast one of the local sports talk hosts about you today. He was talking about some of Woody's comments about you, how he "gave you oppurtunities" but it did not work out. And how Teague is a "real point guard". This fool said Woody must have a point because, if Billy Knight drafted you something has to be wrong. Don't sweat it, I blasted him real proper, then I cut him up in an e-mail.
Just so you know, I stopped goin to the Hawks games strictly because Woody never gave you a chance. Just promise me you will never address the Woody issue. Stay cool. Do your thing.
I love your game. Remember, you can get to any spot on the floor you want, anytime you want. You can go right or left with ease and most "stars" in this game can't do that. You are a great defender and nobody acknowledges it.
I have one piece of advise for you. Don't make the mistake you made here. It seemed like you wanted to please Woody above anything else. Even if that meant sacrificing your game. If the coach knows what he is talking about that's one thing but Woody don't know jack. Remember, this is a business. If you sell your game out for a coach, that goes on your resume! Not his! You have to do what you do. You can't try to change who you are to please just any coach. He can get fired or he can get you traded and your rep is no more than what you did to please him. You are your best being you. When you hit that floor, you have to make the decisions.
As a fan, it means something when you are happy that your favorite player got traded.
Tear'em up!
4, Four, Foe, ....

Hope you can overcome the glut of point guards we have Acie. Good luck this year man.
-
I was also dissappointed that you didnt get alot of playing time in atlanta. Best of luck at golden state.
-
Well if it makes you feel any better i dont expect Monta eills is GS for a while so maybe starting at the 1 is in your near future
-
hey, acie. im a huge hawks fan. let me just say that i cannot wait for you to come to ATL and tear up the hawks. i mean that in all seriousness, even if i will root against you. i know that you can be an amazing PG, and i hate woody for wasting your talent. i dont like woody for a lot of things, by the misuse of you is probably number 1. take care and i look forward to you proving yourself now that you will probably get a chance.
PS nelly is the bomb! perfect fit! -
i hope you can adapt the new life in golden state and have a successful season with GSW. Good luck!
-
Good Luck. Hope it works out for you. Go Cowboys!
-
Cowboys???/ LOL....thanks for the laugh!
-
Well, Acie is a Cowboys fan. Didn't know that?
-
Time to bring those college years back! Ready to see "Mr.Clutch" again, good luck!
-
Hey Acie I watched 98% of the Hawk games and Woody did not give you a chance to play. He played you in garbage time minutes, a minute here, a minute and a half there, three minutes over there, if that’s what he calls giving you playing time then he’s in another world. Flat out you weren’t given any playing time period….. you did the best with what was given to you.
I read that GM Larry Riley of Golden State is going to give you plenty of playing time so jump in and make things happen, that’s what Dominique Wilkins would say about you during your games.
I’m no longer a Hawk fan, now I’m a Warrior fan. Go get’em Acie.
-
Golden State is definitely a better match for you. Your style of play definitely fit their offense. They are a young team and you have the ability to help lead this team to becoming a play off contender!!! I am sorry that hings didn't workout in Atlanta....but I once heard that Man's rejection is God's protection and a set up for a blessing. So, as sad as it may be, this can be the best thing that ever happened to you. You have been praying for an opportunity to showcase your skills, God has given you the platform in Golden State to do it....and a coach that is going to be upfront and honest with you!!! I wish you the best, even though I already know that this is going to be your break out year!!! Just believe you can and do what you do best!!! Stay confident and encouraged!!!
-
I think u will get a lot more play time at golden state!!!! Im sure u will fit in great down there!! good luck and i hope ur feeling betta! Im wishing u a speedy recovery!
-
You def will get more play time in GS! I hope you're better, and don't let this trade bother you so much. You'll be able to show everyone what they missed out on...
-
I'm looking forward to seeing you in a GS uniform. In my opinion any situation is better than the one you had in atlanta. Good luck, I'll be watching!
Go Warriors!! -
Hey Acie I loved watchin you play... when you got to play...everytime youre automatic for three assists in three minutes, ALL the time. Mike woodson is a dumbass and hypocrite and sorry you had to deal with him. first off he says he is defensive minded but he would rather have bibby the whole game, no knock on him but he cant defend, but you can, you can shoot, and your a better passer, mike woodson just doesnt want to look dumb when you outshine everyone. i cant wait till he is gone, he messed up j-smooves game, i love the guy but he doesnt have a jumpshot lol in his playbook jj dribbles the ball down to four seconds then he kicks it out to either smoove or bibby. the only people allowed to shoot are joe bibby and flip. You do your thing tho man, but i dont think both places are that great of a fit for you, you are capable of starting for a contender! show the world that you are the ISH and resign with the mavs my brotha! take that team under your wings! And when you TORCH the hawks look at woody and do that mj shoulder shrug thing haha and i will know you did that for me! anyways good luck man. RIP MICHAEL JACKSON I hate you are gone...
-
I was excited when you were drafted by the Atlanta Hawks. When you played for Texas A&M, I enjoyed your grit and ability to be the "man" when it counted. I honestly think that Woodson hindered your ability along with all the other PG vets ahead of you. FYI, when the Hawks were being blown away in the Cav's playoff series, why the fawk didn't Woodson let you play more minutes? I was hoping to see you shine and create some kind of momentum to bring the Hawks back. Woodson frustrates me, and I think it's all political and he didn't play you because he wanted the wins and to save his job. Woodson crippled the franchise for the next 3 years, and I personally wanted him gone. I wouldn't be surprised if you shine in GS. As a Hawks fan, we wish you luck Acie. When you play the Hawks, please drop 50 dimes on us! The Hawks made a mistake trading you. I live in the Bay Area and i'll probably watch you play, but in some way, I wish you were the starting PG for the Atlanta Hawks.
-
dang i wrote an essay and it dint submit lol so i'll say it again. Acie you have a SICK game that mike woodson's dumbass could not see. everytime you were in you dished three assists AUTOMATIC per minute. you should what you could in that little time you were given and that was more than enough to see that you were our pointguard of our future and not bibby, no knock on him but you can do anything he can do BETTER. i like bibby but like what puppet LBJ said to kobe is he aint got no defense!! haha but man i feel sorry for you that you had to deal with woody's insecure ass. He says he is a defensive minded coach but he dont play you? or greasy? When you get to play for a new coach you will play for someone who lets more than two people shoot lol Mike Woodsons playbook is one play and thats play 1 : "give the ball to joe so he can do somethin with that will help me keep my job...Please Joe." you prolly knew that one lol but To be honest i dont think any of these to teams are a good fit for you. You are capable of startin for a contender man, i know it! so heres the play, go to golden state with a mario west defensive mentallity along with your own offensive mentality, show everyone that you are the ISH, resign with the mavs and make major bank! when you do torch the hawks tho, every shot you drain look at woody and do that michael jordan shoulder shrug everytime that would be so tight! and funny as hell! and ill know you did that for me. BEST OF LUCK RIP MICHAEL JACKSON

In the third sentence i meant you did what you could my bad for my bad grammer

Acie, you already had me feeling bad and all teary eyed the otha day. :( But i keep opinions on deck, agreed Coach Woodson didnt respect your game and NEVER gave you a fighting chance. There were alway posters in the Philips saying "Unleash the Law" and #4 jerseys all over but the man is selfish he aint about long term success of no team he is about trying to win for that day and save his job, thats it AND THATS ALL.
I wasnt even going to give Woodson any energy but he need to be called out..I just read that interview dude is talking bout and woody is a bold face LIAR. Woody know he did you dirt coz he suppose to be focusing on the "Future of his team" and he all on your boxers tryna explain to the media what happen. He going all far left volunteering info i guess old head gotta conscience after all. Which goes to show he gone be waking up with you on his mind for a long time. He gone need you for recommendation on his resume if his "new" team dont work out. Them overstocked p.gs and two ball hoggers i mean ball demanders on the floor at the same time. (j.j & j.c) When they know they needed a big man.. Where they do that at? only in the Atlanta Hawks franchise where Sunds and Woody call the bricks.
Imma mark it on my calendar im still a fan of Atlanta Hawks team but YOU my partna nem for life! Cant wait to see you back in the Philips. And I'm sure Woody is gonna try to shake ur hand after that game.. go and serve that kneegro in 3rd person coz you aint trynna see him. Atl or GS? you've already asked me this and you did what you wanted to do anyways lol..I have mixed feelings about it but Im told you will get the respect you deserve and be able to prove that you are a valuable p.g in the NBA out there with Golden State. Acie, you're so talented, a slashiing beast and you work so hard to get to this point and those 2yrs of your life wasted is irrelevant now coz you get a chance to redeem yourself! you knw your real fans/fam riding with you regardless, With that being said stay focused, stay strong and keep yuh head up.....
TIME TO PUT GOLDEN STATE ON THE MAP YUH DIGG!! -
Hi Acie...I'm one of the many die-hard Warriors fans (we have to be die-hard after only one playoff appearance in 15 years :) I'm looking forward to see what you can do for our squad, which lacked solid point guard play last season.
From what I've seen, you have got the physical talent and the size to be a regular contributor. I just hope that you and coach Nelson match up in terms of what is expected from your role on the team.
Marcus WIiliams is an example of a player you don't want to turn out like. He came here and played without heart and without direction, just thinking he could rely upon "his style" to get him by. As a result he sat at the end of the bench and had 73 DNP-CD's. He'll be lucky to get work in the Mexican league next season.
My advice, and take it for what its worth, is to do exactly what Don Nelson tells you. He can make your career and get you that next contract if you play with heart and with smarts. Guys like Azubuike and CJ Watson have risen from NBDL players to guys with serious NBA futures because of Nellie. Get advice from them on how to get on Nelson's good side and follow it.
BTW, I'm looking forward to seeing you as a three point specialist and a guy that makes the smart play in the open floor. I hope we get to see that from you this season. And also, please keep us updated on whats going on in Oakland. Defintiely excited about reading your stories next season.
Best of luck towards a huge year! -
hey bruh. Its Maverick here, just stopping by and welcoming you to the team. I want to wish you the best, and I hope you can finally show the world what you can do in the league, because Woodson didn't do a damn thing to acknowledge your strengths as a player. You were a great collegiate player, just make sure you keep your focus and come prepared when it comes to practice. Nelson wants someone who is more than willing to become a better player, and his a hard worker. You should be the first one to the gym and the last one to leave. You'll be awarded with mych deserved PT. Play that hard-nosed defense and dime it up, set your teammates up also. I know with dudes like Monta, Buike, Morrow, Steph, and Jack...you are sure to get some people involved and get a couple of dimes in. Be a fascillitator, look for your shot second, and become a defensive perimeter powerhouse. We need someone like that. Go hard bruh. Once we fans see your enthusiasm, your energy, we will not dissappoint you. We will return that energy back to you a thousand-fold.
Welcome to the BAY, and welcome to the Warriors.
Shout out to my people back in the Stack, the town, the Zo, the dro...and everyone else in the 510. -
To be honest..I wouldn't have a problem learning under Mike Bibby
-
warriors is a better fit, spread out offense more room to knock down jumpers....the clutch ones u hit at A&M...good luck in the bay
-
Gonna be honest, even though I am a Golden State Warriors fan, Nelson is not gonna respect your game either. Especially since we have Stephan Curry most likely be the starter on the team next to Monta Ellis. I say the best option for you is to play out your contract and go to some team that would guarantee you minutes or a coach that can respect your game. Good Luck though. Looking forward seeing you place.
-
*play
-
Hey man, work hard in practice, you need to stand out above all the point guards in golden state, trust me on this one, most of the guards don't have ball handling abilitites, they are good don't get me wrong but if you can control the game, be aggresive and make good decisions, you will play! Nellie loves transition basketball, turn and burn through the whole practice, its your home now, make it happen cap'n. good luck. Zman, from norcal, big time warrior fan!
-
Acie, saw your intro interview with GS just now. Again, welcome to Norcal. Hope you're enjoying this lovely weather. Sunny, clear skies, no humidity, 80 degrees. Good luck in summer league and pre-season!
-
I'm hopeful that you finally get to show what you can do. I saw you play probably the most heartbreaking high school basketball championship game ever (Does the name Chris Ross still haunt you? The guy couldn't make a layup but he hits a turnaround halfcourt shot at the buzzer to win the 5A title? Geez...)
I was blessed to be an Aggie during your clutch reign, and I'm hoping you can join Antoine back home and bring the Mavs back up to where they were before Nazi-Stern and Salvador brought them down. Get out there and dominate.
Gig 'em -
Hey Acie,
Me and my dad have been fans of you since we first stole you at pick #11. I'm sure you remember us- we were half season ticket holders, he wore your jersey that you signed for him last year, I wore a joe/josh jersey, we sat not next to the bench but to the side of it, pretty close, we would talk to you a bunch your rookie season (couldnt find you much the next), we had the "UNLEASH ACIE" sign? (and the "FEAR ZAZA" one, haha)
Anyhow, man, me and my dad only shook our heads as we saw clearly Coach Woodson as you say "not respect your game". We could tell you always played with a leash on, he tried to make you something you werent, he made you afraid to make mistakes and no player can play that way man, a good coach lets a young talent take his lumps. You showed flashes of brilliance at times but we knew, the WHOLE CITY knew, that you were never allowed to be the player you truly are on this team. Im not gonna bash on Woodson but....well let's just be real, it was his fault. I hate that it had to go down this way, with the right coach you would have had a long and successful season here, i truly believe that.
Me and my pops said all year as we saw Woodson not know what to do with you, and we both would say "if he can't play here, we hope we trade him to somewhere that he DOES get an honest shot to get minutes and become the player we all know he is". We think it sucks that you arent a Hawk anymore, but we are both excited that you'll be on a team with a great coach who we think you'll flourish under. Im sorry things didnt work out here, but hold your head up man, better times are coming. Woodson/the Hawks (unfortunately) WILL come out looking foolish here, I almost hope so. I mean, i see us draft Jeff Teague and i wonder 'how is this any different from when we drafted acie? a high scoring pg with a long range who led his college team in multiple stats?" I dont get it. But unfortunately, like you said, like we know, you were never given an honest shot. For that, i apologize, if even on behalf of Woodson himself. This city loved watching you play and it's a shame we dont get to do anymore of it.
Be well Acie. You're a great player and great person as well. When you come back to Atlanta, come say hey, we'll certainly be there, watching you score 30 (only dont win the game ok? haha) -
You were always injured and timid
-
Not always, Woody did play a role it this aswell
-
I'll try to make my way to oracle arena
-
Glad to see you're coming to california!
-
I, like so many other Hawk fans cant stand Mike Woodson so I can see how you feel. He has no idea how to run the team he has which is why you have inexpeirenced players sitting with talent on the bench while they can be learning and contributing on the floor. The only reason why Rio and Solo got the time they did was because of injuries and he was forced to play them.
There is always a way to utilize the talent you have but woodson is not capabale of switching it up which is why he sucks. It's clear at the games most players dont respect him and I actually believe he rubs the entire team the wrong way. While players are known to have personality issues I think it's a clear issue when the majority of a team has problems with the Head coach and upper managetment does nothing abt it.
The owners actually gave him the credit of the Hawks advancement from last season to the next. We needed Avery Johnson as a head coach but ofcourse that didnt happen so it is what it is. As for yourself just abt every young player in the leauge gets traded all over the place so it's best you adjust and show off where ever you go but know the Hawk fans in the A had love for you -
any updates over there?
-
Acie, Im from Atlanta and for the life of me i never understood why you didnt get more playing time. You really showed flashes of how good you can be. Good luck.
-
good luck acie
-
Acie, I can't stand what is happening so far in Golden State. Just keep your confidence and work ethic up. It WILL payoff eventually. Even if the math works out that the Warriors trade you since they are not playing you so far, just know that your talent will shine through somewhere when God's timing is ready.
-
Yo, Acie, I really like what you're doing with your limited minutes in Oakland. Keep up the good work. You know that Nellie rewards work with minutes man!

go Acie Law for starting tonight March 16 2010 against the Memphis Grizzlies..
