FREEDOM OF SPEECH
It's a game day!!! I'm just getting ready to take my pregame nap; we play the Orlando Magic today. Before I do that, I just wanted to talk to some of my peeps on the yard, about a serious issue...
I been going thru a personal battle with myself on whether I will vote or not. To be real honest with you, I really didn't give a damn. But after having a series of talks with my girl and watching and listening to different debates, I decided I will vote. Nov 4 is a big day the people of the United States. We have the choice to pick our next president. We have two candidates running for the office, and some people have they personal opinion of who they think should be. My personal vote will be going to Obama. I'm wit Obama because he wants to help the less fortunate plain and simple, but McCain could help me too. But I'm not a selfish person and god has blessed me to be able to support my family, I feel that he's bring a different and change to the world in which is much needed. Also, with me being afro-American, this will be huge for my heritage and the world, just thinking he might be the first black president leaves me speechless. This election race and voting stuff is real hard, because it is a serious matter. I don't like the fact that all there doing is going at each other rather than explaining exactly what they going to do. They're doing a whole lot of he said this or he isn't gone do that I know u have to do it but damn its like that all they talk about..
Whoever you may choose to vote for McCain or Obama, please go vote. If you having problems with Medicare, high gas prices, taxes, social security, or any of your loved ones are still in the war, you need to go vote for whoever you think that caters to your needs. Even convicted felons can vote, so the world wants to hear your voice!
NOV 4th--- GO VOTE!!

Great timing, because today is the deadline to register to vote in a lot of states, like California, so if you're still not registered, make sure you do it today! In some states where released felons can vote they will have to apply for reinstatement of voting rights, but make sure you do your homework and figure out how to do it.
Thanks for the updates Acie, and good luck against the Magic tonight. -
thanks!! we lost tonite
-
Doesn't matter if you vote Republican or Democrat - Things will stay stagnant.
You want to see real change (for the better) in this World?.. Vote 3rd party. -
You're retarded.
-
A vote for a 3rd party is a vote for mccain
-
Democracy is way too solid.
-
why dont you let my comments go through I followed all THREE rules of the yard, guess we know who you are voting for

Rusty, I don't even know specifically to what you're referring. I'm sorry. And you have no idea for whom I am voting. Frankly, it's none of your business anyway. If you have issues with your comments, please email feedback@yardbarker.com -- thanks.
-
I dont believe I asked you who you were voting for therefore i was not trying to make it any of my business thanks!
-
Great message. It's definitely depressing that a lot of people don't participate on election day. Voting is the simplest way your get your voice heard in the US. I totally agree with you that its awesome that we could possibly have an African American president.
So back to basketball, do you think you can beat out Mike Bibby for the starting PG spot on the team? -
thank you!!! its not about me beating bibby its about our time winning.. whteva i need to do to help our team im going to do it.. mike is like my big bro, alot of his advice has been priceless
-
That's really cool!! My favorite athletes in any sport are always the ones who simply want to win. Good luck this season!!
-
Great post, Acie. It's been awesome to see Obama inspire so many younger people to get out there and vote, when otherwise they wouldn't have given a damn. Hopefully this post does that for a few more people, too.

If you are unsure where the candidates stand on the issues that are important to you - it is as simple as going to thier website. They clearly outline thier positions on a variety of different issues.
I know everyone says, just vote - but don't just vote - EDUCATE yourself - and then vote! that's how we got in the situation we're in at the moment - by voting for the cowboy & not researching what a douche he is.
And if you are in Cali - please please please vote no on prop 8!
Don't be a hater!
Ok - off my soap box. :)
-
WHY SHOULD I VOTE NO ON PROP 8?
-
Because you believe in equality for all people.
Also - vote yes on 2 cause you love animals. :-)
thanks for asking. -
WORD. I GOT YOU... GOOD LOOKING OUT!!
-
Great post! more people need to hear that, and it means a lot seeing it coming from someone like yourself, a pro athlete who doesnt necessarily have to care about the masses. this is the most important election our country has had in a long time. thanks for helping get out the vote! OBAMA/BIDEN 08!
Glad to see you getting significant minutes, hopefully preseason will earn you a starting spot! good luck tonight! -
great message. a couple of my friends r fighting in the war right now and its hard. I hope who ever becomes pres will help them more than anything. i no who i want to win. anyway i wish u luck against magic tonight i hope u dominate tonight!
-
You are so sick in NBA 2k9.
-
obama all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Great message its important for every person who is able to vote to let their voice be heard. Don't just jump on the band wagon and vote for who you see everyone else voting for educate yourself on where they stand on certain issues and if you have the same veiws as them then for that person!
But anyways good luck against the Magic Acie! -
i am voting for mccain in the booth... i have faith in the voting systems messing up and my vote will go to my intended vote, Barrack Saddam Bin Lotto....this is democracy....

Acie Good Luck and I hope you have a great season as well...
-
heyy good luck and you bet ill be voting!
-
You mean there's an election going on right now, damn I gotta get outta bed more often. Go Reagan.
-
LOL
-
So I have to be the devil's advocate here.....Why vote its not like you vote matters remember when Gore beat Bush and we still wound up with Bush?
-
i feel u that its our right to vote cuz many people died to give us that right and i will defintely vote for obama but bottom line is that whoever the powers that be want in the white house will win. plus with that old ass ancient ass system of electoral votes, thats one of the reasons why so many people are discouraged about voting. and dont nobody get it twisted, unfortunately racism is still going strong in this country. believe it or not, there are some peeps that dont agree with mccains policies at all but still wont vote for obama cuz hes african american. anybody who thinks otherwise is jus playin theyself. hopefully obama wins tho.

Keep tellin yourself that, but that will NEVER happen for one simple reason. Americans want to feel like their vote counts and a vote for a 3rd party is a wasted vote.
-
WORD. THE 3RD PARTY IS A WASTED VOTE, BUT IT WORKS FOR ME!!! LOL AS LONG AS MCCAIN DON'T WIN.. IT'S ALL GOOD!!!

-
Agreed - Yes, Americans do want to feel like their vote counts. However, a vote for Democrat or Republican is still a wasted vote. McCain will reiterate Bush's policies, and Obama is destined to fail - promising to change the inevitable.
Ralph Nader for President! -

haha I love that you acknowledge how McCain can help you out...but we all know you won't lose any sleep paying a few more taxes on that $$$.
-
Barack better be able to back up his words. If he gets elected (which he will), and does nothing, then he's just another POS politician, nothing more.
-
Cool Acie, you have a blog like Al Horford and Othello Hunter, didn't know. Well anyways, I wish my parents would vote since im still only 16 so we can get this economy back to the way we were all decently happy with so many Americans will not have to suffer like this again. Barack is going to win because of his opinions through his well spoken speeches and the fact barack is beating McCain by like 10%. Acie, will u b doin any public appearances for Hawks fans like me?
-
yea i will the team has some appearances comn up in the next few weeks
