\Alabama Guard Tyler Booker Lands SEC Honor; Players of the Week Named

Alabama guard Tyler Booker was named the Southeastern Conference Offensive Lineman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

The weekly conference honor is the first of Booker’s career and the Crimson Tide’s third this season.

Alabama’s offensive front controlled the line of scrimmage as the Tide accounted for 356 yards of total offense, including 132 yards on the ground

He had a career-high six knockdown blocks against the Rebels as Alabama's offense accumulated 356 yards of total offense, including 132 on the ground during the 24-10 victory.  

The line didn't allow a sack as Jalen Milroe completed 17 of 21 passes for 225 yards and a touchdown. Running back Jase McClellan rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown while averaging 6.2 yards per carry.

Booker was one of nine named a a player of the week by the coaching staff:

Offense

Jase McClellan

  • Led the Crimson Tide with 17 carries for 105 yards and a touchdown
  • Averaged 6.2 yards per tote, including an eight-yard score to go with a long rush of 22
  • Added two receptions for 12 yards

Jalen Milroe

  • Finished 17-of-21 passing for 225 yards and a touchdown
  • Completed at least one pass to 10 different UA receivers on the day
  • Also accumulated 28 yards on the ground with a long rush of 20

Robbie Ouzts

  • Got the starting nod against the Rebels
  • Totaled one reception for 21 yards, picking up a crucial first down to extend UA’s offensive drive that resulted in an eventual touchdown
  • Provided solid perimeter blocking, helping the Tide rack up a combined 131 rushing yards

Defense

Jihaad Campbell

  • Stepped up in the absence of Deontae Lawson, entering the game late in the second quarter
  • Finished second on the Tide defense with seven total tackles

Kool-Aid McKinstry

  • Helped UA’s secondary limit the high-powered Ole Miss offense to only 245 yards through the air
  • Recorded three tackles, including one for loss (-2 yards), and added a pass breakup

Dallas Turner

  • Led the Alabama defense in production points as he spotted the stat sheet to open SEC action
  • Posted five tackles, including 3.5 for loss (-27 yards) and two sacks (-17 yards)
  • Also pressured the quarterback twice while forcing a fumble with a huge hit on the Rebels’ signal-caller

Special Teams

Ja’Corey Brooks

  • Blocked an Ole Miss punt, flying around the left side of the line to dive in front of the ball
  • Added one reception for a two-yard gain from his wide receiver post

James Burnip

  • Called on to punt three times in the top-25 matchup
  • Accumulated 145 yards for an average of 48.3 yards per kick
  • Forced three fair catches and boomed a long punt of 56
