Ex-Penn State football WR adds trio of transfer portal offers

Former Penn State football wide receiver Malick Meiga has added a trio of offers since entering the transfer portal. After declaring his intentions to leave the Nittany Lions in mid-April, Meiga has announced offers from Coastal Carolina and Nevada in the FBS and Delaware at the FCS level. The senior was the second Penn State receiver to hit the portal this spring and the third Nittany Lion overall.

Malick Meiga adds three offers since entering the transfer portal

Malick Meiga became Penn State’s second transfer portal departure hours after the spring window opened on April 16. A team captain last fall, Meiga primarily contributed on special teams throughout his four seasons in Happy Valley.

“After a great four years, it’s time for a new chapter,” Meiga wrote, in part, on social media. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to the amazing fans, teammates, and coaching staff at Penn State University. Your support, camaraderie, and guidance have meant the world to me.”

Since then, Malick Meiga has added three offers from the transfer portal, per his Twitter/X profile. Coastal Carolina was the first program to offer on April 18. Delaware and Nevada followed on April 19.

The Montreal, Canada, native ends his Penn State football career with nine receptions for 106 yards and a score, including a career-best 67-yard touchdown catch against Rutgers in 2021. He also added four tackles on special teams. A three-star, Malick Meiga was the top prospect from Quebec in the 2020 cycle, according to 247Sports.

Veteran Penn State football defender hits portal for second time

A quiet spring portal window thus far for James Franklin and the Nittany Lions, Penn State football lost its third player on Friday when redshirt junior defensive lineman Davon Townley entered his name into the transfer portal. The former four-star recorded four tackles in the last two seasons, and played 17 snaps last fall.

Townley is one of just three Nittany Lions to ever enter the portal and return to Penn State football, doing so after the 2022 season.

The first Nittany Lion to hit the transfer portal is also the first to find a new home. On Wednesday, ex-Penn State wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith committed to Auburn. Lambert-Smith has 1,721 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in his Penn State football career. 

This Tuesday, April 30, is the last day for players to enter the transfer portal for the spring window.
