Tyler Booker gives explanation for Alabama football’s 9 false start penalties
Gary Cosby Jr.-USA TODAY Sports

Alabama football’s starting offensive lineman, Tyler Booker recenlty gave an explanation for the Crimson Tide’s nine false start penalties against Texas A&M.

The Tide struggled with pre-snap penalties throughout its win over the Aggies. Booker said the penalties had something to do with Texas A&M shifting their defensive front during his Monday interview on “The Next Round.”

“The reason why there were some penalties, Texas A&M, they actually started doing some shifts, and we usually hear those moves calls,” Booker said. “So, we were bracing for the move calls. We just weren’t ready for the movement. So, whenever you see movement up front and we’re already going on silent count, that’s just something that we have to be better on too. It was our first time doing it in a very hostile environment, and I’m glad it worked for the most part.”

Nick Saban expressed his thoughts on the many penalties after the win.

“This may be the record game for me in terms of messing up and still winning,” Saban said. “You take the mess-ups and penalties and you add them all together.”
