The Alabama Crimson Tide is amidst preparations for its contest at USF in Tampa, Fla. this weekend.

On Tuesday, Alabama offensive guard Tyler Booker appeared on "The Next Round." Amongst other things, Booker talked about his thoughts of the Texas game — and perhaps why the Crimson Tide lost.

"Last week, we didn’t practice the best, by any means, on either side of the ball," Booker said. “We’re going to have a different attitude coming into practice today just because we’ve seen what happens when we don’t practice to the 'Bama standard. So we’re very excited about practice today."

“I feel like we probably just took winning for granted, like we did last year. We beat Middle Tennessee and we just had to bring a different energy level and bring a different level of focus. There was energy and there was focus, but it just wasn’t where it needed to be.”

Former Crimson Tide players Josh Chapman and Denzel Devall are currently coaches on Nick Saban's staff. They made sure to inform the current players about how important practice really is.

"We didn’t have the best energy last week, and we know that whenever we have a great week of practice, that makes the game easier,” Booker said. “Just talking to some alums like Denzel Devall and Josh Chapman, they said practice was hard, so the game was easy. The game was fun. We just want to have fun. We want all that hard work during the week to pay off."

Alabama and USF are scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on ABC.
