Raiders Draft Prospect: DE Justin Eboigbe, Alabama
Gary Cosby Jr.-USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are seeking their next young stars in the 2024 NFL Draft.

The Raiders were on the cusp of a playoff appearance in 2023 but fell just short. They hope they can break through to the postseason in 2024 with a few good offseason moves, including a good draft class.

With Coach Antonio Pierce and General Manager Tom Telesco beginning their era in Las Vegas, they hope to bring in the right players to bring a Lombardi Trophy back for the Silver and Black.

One player who could help them do that is Alabama defensive lineman Justin Egboibe. A former top-100 recruit in high school, Egboigbe spent five years with the Crimson Tide. He is now off to the NFL.

Egboigbe finished his collegiate career with 123 total tackles, 16 tackles for loss, three passes defended, and nine sacks. He broke out in his senior season and was named First-Team All-SEC.

Egboigbe is a massive presence who can play anywhere along the defensive line. He stands at 6-foot-5, weighs 292 pounds, and looks like a defensive tackle coming off the edge. His size causes mismatches for offensive lines, as he can kick inside and beat interior linemen or prove too powerful for offensive tackles.

Ebgoigbe has a wide frame and uses it when rushing off the edge. He is an athletic presence off the defensive line, no matter where he lines up. According to Pro Football Focus, Egboigbe played most of his snaps off the edge but still played a fair amount of snaps as an interior rusher. On the interior, he played mainly as a 3-technique.

An NFL defensive coordinator may want to find a long-term spot for Egboigbe but should also embrace his versatility and athleticism. According to PFF, he generated 30 pressures in 2023.

Egboigbe’s frame should also allow him to be an effective run defender at the next level. He has long arms that help him wrap up ball carriers after he uses his strength to shed blockers.

However, Egboigbe is a slow player. He is slow to get off the snap, slow to recognize plays and slow to chase down ball carriers. He also did not produce until his senior year, so his consistency may be questioned.

Egboigbe is projected to be an early day three prospect. If the Raiders want a big, athletic presence with versatility, Egboigbe could be a good fit.

The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
