Angels Expert Puts No. 3 Prospect on Offensive Standout for Double-A
USA TODAY Sports

According to MLB.com, the Los Angeles Angels farm system isn't anything special. The Angels are ranked at 28 out of 30 teams in the farm system rankings and aren't known for their development of player prospects.

Still, it doesn't mean that the Halos don't have any big-league talent in there. Many great Angels have made their way through their farm system and have panned out extraordinary careers for themselves. Just because you're ranked high in the farm system doesn't mean you'll be great in the big leagues, but the Halos do have young prospects who are killing it in their minor-league teams.

Angels beat writer Rhett Bollinger made a list of minor league players from Angels affiliates who are showing up and showing out, and their number three overall prospect catcher Edgar Quero made Bollinger's list.

But he’s five years older than top catching prospect Edgar Quero, who posted an .841 OPS in 27 games. Quero, ranked as the club’s No. 3 prospect, has hit at every level and has put himself on the radar. But now it’s about improving behind the plate before he gets called up to the Majors.

Quero, 20, plays for the Double-A affiliate Rocket City Trash Pandas and is doing well. This season, he is slashing .273/.429/.394 with a .823 OPS with only one home run, 16 RBIs, and 27 hits in 28 games and 99 ABs.

The Cuban native was signed as a free agent in 2021 by the Halos and participated with the team during spring training. The 20-year-old is a switch hitter that prefers the left side as he holds more power on that side and is a solid catcher who moves well behind the plate with a solid arm.

Quero is estimated to join the big leagues in 2025, and we'll see if that holds true, as the Halaos have a great catcher in Logan O'Hoppe at their disposal. One thing is for sure; the Halos don't lack talent behind the plate.
