Angels Owner Keeping Managerial Decision and Front Office Future Close to the Vest, According to Reporter

The Angels are a team without an identity.

After firing their manager Phil Nevin as the Angels' season collapsed, Arte Moreno is reportedly interested in hiring a President of Baseball Operations. Perry Minasian is the Angels' general manager. It is unclear what the addition of a PBO would do to Minasian's responsibilities.

According to FanSided's Robert Murray, Moreno is leaving much room for speculation as the Angels front office could evolve in the offseason.

“There [were] reports out from The Athletic that the Angels were looking for a President of Baseball Operations…” “All I’ve gotten back is ‘ask Arte.’ And it’s people that you think would know, and they don’t know.”

Not only will Moreno have to figure out what he wants his front office to look like, but he must replace manager Phil Nevin. Free agency begins five days after the end of the World Series. Managerless teams aren't likely to attract much attention — namely by star two-way hitter Shoehei Ohtani.

Similarly, even those in the building who are part of the search are reportedly unsure of Moreno's plans.

“[Arte’s] keeping it really private here. And even people that are in the search, they don’t know what’s going on. And they’re asking me like, ‘what do you know?’ And I’m like, ‘what do you know?’ And it seems like nobody knows.”

With no clear direction or identity, it could be a long offseason for the Angels.
