More good news on the injury front, Houston Astros fans: Houston manager Dusty Baker expects to have outfielder Chas McCormick back in the lineup on Sunday.
Just in time for Mother's Day.
"I got him slated to play tomorrow," Baker told MLB.com.
McCormick has not played in the last four games after dealing with back soreness, but that's expected to change on Sunday afternoon in Chicago.
In other injury-related news, pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. is "on course" to return as scheduled, according to Baker.
McCullers threw another bullpen session before Saturday's showdown with the White Sox, and he will continue to progress past throwing fastballs and changeups in upcoming sessions.
"Not sure exactly when [he'll return], but we just hope we don't have any setbacks that will take him backwards," Baker said.
The Astros conclude their three-game road series with the White Sox on Sunday afternoon in Chicago, with first pitch slated for 1:10 p.m. CT.
Houston sends rookie right-hander Hunter Brown (3-1, 3.23 ERA) to the hill in the rubber game of the series, as Chicago counters with righty Lucas Giolito (2-2, 3.59 ERA).
