Astros Make Best ‘Feel Good’ Signing of Offseason

The Houston Astros are coming for revenge in the 2024 season. 

After falling to the Texas Rangers in the AL Championship Series, there is pressure on them to return to the World Series. It comes with the territory of being the Astros after two world titles since 2017.

Any season that doesn't end in a World Series is a disappointment for this dynasty. 

With the decision to extend second baseman Jose Altuve for another five years, Houston's leadership told the rest of baseball that they have no plans of slowing down. Given their recent success, why would they? The organization has a chance to add more trophies to its collection.

Altuve has been the glue to this dynasty and if he can continue producing , the Astros will continue to be one of the best teams in baseball.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today wrote that Altuve was the best feel-good signing of the offseason, noting that owner Jim Crane delivered his promise by having Altuve play for them until he's at least 39 years old. 

Altuve, is one of the best second basemen in the game and hasn't shown any signs of slowing down. He dealt with an injury after being hit by a pitch in the World Baseball Classic last year and still slashed .311/.393/.522 with 17 home runs in 90 games after missing the first two months.

An eight-time All-Star, two-time World Series Champion, six-time Silver Slugger, and AL MVP has one of the more decorated careers in baseball history. 

With five more years ahead, the 33-year-old Altuve has a chance to add to his already Hall of Fame-worthy career.
