The Boston Red Sox today will wrap up their series against the Guardians with Brennan Bernadino making a spot start followed by Cooper Criswell getting a bulk of the work. The Red Sox are coming off a brilliant performance by Tanner Houck last night as he pitched a complete game shutout which was the first one by a Red Sox pitcher since Michael Wacha did it on June 6, 2022. Houck only gave up three hits, he didn’t walk anyone and struck out nine. Before today’s finale, they announced that Tyler O’Neill was placed on the 7-Day Injured List retroactive to April 16 th which was when he collided with Rafael Devers on a ball, with the move the Red Sox activated outfielder Rob Refsnyder from the 10-Day Injured List.

Red Sox Moves By The Numbers

Tyler O’Neill

O’Neill is in his first season with the Red Sox after being acquired in a trade from the St. Louis Cardinals which saw the Red Sox send RHPs Victor Santos and Nick Robertson to the Cardinals. In his 15 games for the Red Sox, he hit .313 with a 1.209 OPS; he had seven home runs, eight RBI, 14 runs scored, a stolen base, and 11 walks. Thankfully it’s just the 7-Day Injured List the play looked much worse, and he’s been a hot bat for the Red Sox and looks to reciprocate his 2021 season when he finished eighth in MVP hitting .286 with a .912 OPS; he had 26 doubles, two triples, 34 home runs, 80 RBI, 89 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and 38 walks. That was the only season he played over 100 games.

Rob Refsnyder

Refsnyder joined the Red Sox on December 21, 2021, he signed as a free agent. In his last two seasons, he hit .273 with a .768 OPS; he had 20 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 49 RBI, 56 runs scored, eight stolen bases, and 48 walks. He primarily is a platoon guy, getting the start against LHP. This spring in nine games he hit .300 with a .850 OPS; he had one home run, seven RBI, two runs scored, and three walks. He suffered a broken toe during spring training. He was rehabbing with Triple-A Worcester in four games he hit .333 with a 1.051 OPS; he had a double, a home run, an RBI, three runs scored, and a walk.
