Boston Red Sox Roster Moves 4/19

The Boston Red Sox are about to start a three-game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates tonight, it will be Brayan Bello getting the ball for the Red Sox while the Pirates haven’t announced a starter for tonight’s game. The one note for tonight’s game is the Red Sox are starting Ceddanne Rafaela at shortstop again, with Jarren Duran in center field, Wilyer Abreu in left field, and Rob Refsnyder in right field. The Red Sox are coming off a tough series loss to the Cleveland Guardians as they dropped three of the four games winning just the third game behind a Tanner Houck gem. Today before they start the series against the Pirates they announced the following roster moves.

Red Sox Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Cam Booser

Booser is in his season in the Red Sox system after spending time in the Minnesota Twins and Arizona Diamondbacks system before he spent 2022 in the Independent League. In 2023 with Worcester, he went 4-3 in 48 games with a 4.99 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 66 strikeouts in 57.2 innings. This spring in nine games he went 1-0 with a 1.80 ERA, a 0.40 WHIP, and ten strikeouts in ten innings, he impressed many around the Red Sox organization, but he was still sent to Worcester to star the season where he’s made four appearances going 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA, a 0.60 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts in 6.2 innings.

LHP – Joe Jacques

Jacques was claimed off waivers by the Red Sox from the Pittsburgh Pirates back on December 7, 2022, he would go 2-1 in 23 games in the 2023 season with a 5.06 ERA, a 4.53 FIP, a 1.57 WHIP, and 20 strikeouts in 26.2 innings. This spring he made six appearances going 0-1 with an 8.44 ERA, a 3.00 WHIP, and five strikeouts in 5.1 innings. He started the season in Triple-A Worcester making four appearances going 0-1 with a 15.75 ERA, a 3.50 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in four innings. With the Red Sox, he made one appearance which came yesterday going 1.2 innings and giving up a run on three hits; he didn’t walk anyone and struck out two, the run he gave up would be the winning run for the Guardians.
