Chicago White Sox Announce Roster Moves
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The White Sox announced a pair of roster moves before this evening's contest with the Los Angeles Angels. Chicago recalled outfielder Adam Haseley and sent down recently promoted Jose Rodriguez. Haseley is making a second stint with the White Sox this year, and Rodriguez will rejoin his teammates in Double-A Birmingham.

The White Sox called up Rodriguez before their six-game homestand against the Rangers and Red Sox. He replaced Romy Gonzalez, who landed on the IL with shoulder inflammation. The Dominican middle-infielder did not start any games during his stint in Chicago but appeared as a pinch runner in the White Sox win in the series finale against Texas. Rodriguez skipped the Triple-A level for his big league promotion but will return to Double-A.

Second Run

Adam Haseley returned to the White Sox after being sent down to Triple-A Charlotte on May 28th. He slashed .303/.380/.427 over 100 plate appearances with the Knights. Chicago has shuttled Haseley between Charlotte and the big league roster multiple times over the last two seasons. The former first-round pick of the Philadelphia Phillies has been unimpressive in his big-league career. In his first stint with Chicago this season, he hit .222 with six runs, two doubles, two RBIs, and a stolen base in 26 games.

What's On Tap Next?

Shortstop Tim Anderson is on the mend and may return to his natural position in LA. Zach Remillard will fill the backup infield role instead of Rodriguez, who Chicago likely promoted to serve as an emergency backup. Haseley adds another outfielder that can play all three positions.
