Chicago White Sox Roster Moves

The Chicago White Sox have two games remaining this spring before they kick off the season on March 28th against division rival Detriot Tigers in Detriot. Yesterday they lost to the Los Angeles Angels 2-0 in Cactus League play. The team will play the Seattle Mariners today and then the Colorado Rockies tomorrow to finish up their Spring training schedule. This morning they released two players from their current roster ahead of the game with the Mariners.

1B/3B – Mike Moustakas

The White Sox have released veteran infielder Mike Moustakas ahead of their game today against the Seattle Mariners. Moustakas played in 19 games this spring with 41 at-bats. He scored five runs, had two doubles, one home run, two RBIs, four walks, 13 strikeouts, and slashed .195/.283/.317 with a .600 OPS this spring. Last season he played for both the Colorado Rockies and the Los Angeles Angels. He played in a combined 112 games with 352 at-bats. He scored 43 runs, had 15 doubles, 12 home runs, 48 RBIs, 23 walks, struck out 95 times, and slashed .247/.293/.345 with a .685 OPS.

OF – Kevin Pillar

Pillar was released this morning, by the White Sox ahead of the Cactus League matchup with the Mariners. Pillar played in 18 games with 44 at-bats, six runs, six, doubles, five RBIs, two walks, 12 strikeouts, one steal, and slashed .250/.306/.386 with a .692 OPS on the spring. Last season the veteran outfielder played for the Atlanta Brave in 81 games. During his time he scored 29 runs, had 10 doubles, nine home runs, 32 RBIs, six walks, 50 strikeouts, four steals, and slashed .228/.248/.416 with a .664 OPS.
