The Chicago Cubs announced that they have added another player to their roster for the London Series against the St. Louis Cardinals this weekend.
Teams are allowed to add an extra player to their active roster during the series to bring the total to 27 players.
The Cubs announced they have added infielder Edwin Rios as their 27th player for the series.
Rios can play multiple positions and provides good cover for the rest of the active roster.
However, Rios has not performed well this season and owns a .071/.235/.214 slashline in the Majors this year. In Triple-A he owns an .833 OPS.
First pitch of the London Series is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. CT and Justin Steele is scheduled to take the mound. The Cardinals will send Adam Wainwright to the bump in opposition.
On Sunday, first pitch is scheduled for 9:10 a.m. CT with Marcus Stroman taking the mound against Jack Flaherty.
