Cubs OF Seiya Suzuki 'building up his hitting progression' in recovery from sprained finger

Nearly one month ago, Chicago Cubs outfielder Seiya Suzuki exited a contest against the Cincinnati Reds early due to a sprained right finger. Shortly thereafter, the 27-year-old was placed on the 10-day injured list, but thus far, he hasn't returned to a major league diamond.

Suzuki is making progress though, according to Maddie Lee of the Chicago Sun-Times.

After agreeing to a five-year, $85 million deal with the Cubs in March, Suzuki was named the NL Rookie of the Month for April. The former four-time Nippon Professional Baseball All-Star has registered a .245/.344/.432 slash line with four home runs and 21 RBI through his first 139 MLB at-bats, covering 41 games.

Chicago could certainly use Suzuki's bat back in the lineup. The Cubs enter Thursday in fourth place in the NL Central with a 26-43 record.
