Former Angels Manager Suddenly Atop the List for New Gig with NL Team
USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Angels search for a manager came to an end last week when they hired long-time manager and coach Ron Washington. The 71-year-old will get a chance to coach once again, and hopefully, he fairs just as well as he did with the Texas Rangers.

The Halos found their job, but we cannot forget about our good old friend, Phil Nevin, who got fired at the end of the regular season and is now looking for a new job. Nevin may not be looking much longer for a new job; in fact, he might stay in California altogether.

The San Diego Padres may end up hiring Phil Nevin as their lead man after he spent the last season and a half as the lead man for the Halos.

The Padres had their former manager, Bob Melvin, leave for their NL West rivals, the San Francisco Giants. He signed a three-year deal in late October to become the 39th manager in franchise history.

Nevin got his first shot as manager in 2022 after the team let go of Joe Maddon mid-season. His record with the Halod isn't anything to behold, as he went 119-149 in his time in Los Angeles. He may not have the record to show for it, but he will bring more of the fiery passion that San Diego surely isn't lacking.

The 52-year-old is a California guy through and through, and we'll see if he can remain in the state for another potential manager job.
