Gabe Kapler puts on push-up clinic before Phillies game
Raj Mehta-USA TODAY Sports

Gabe Kapler put on a push-up clinic before the Philadelphia Phillies took on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park on Wednesday, as the manager showcased some pretty impressive form.

Footage of Kapler’s pregame calisthenics session surfaced on social media, leaving Twitter abuzz over how the skipper was arguably showing Phillies players a thing or two about how to prepare for the game by properly getting loose.

Textbook form, to say the least.

Kapler is a renowned fitness nut with some fairly out-of-this world theories about men’s health, so his evident devotion to pregame workouts is hardly a surprise. Still, the case can be made the 44-year-old Phillies manager is showing up his players with such an impressive routine.

For what it’s worth, the Phillies did go out and beat the Red Sox by a score of 5-2, improving their record to 66-60, which leaves the squad only 1.5 games back in the incredibly tight NL Wild Card race. How much Kapler’s push-up routine may or may not have inspired the winning performance is unknown at this time.
