Giants' Anthony DeSclafani exits game vs. Mets early with ankle discomfort

The San Francisco Giants began Wednesday afternoon's home game against the New York Mets holding a four-game lead over the second-place Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League West standings but witnessed an upsetting occurrence in the top of the second inning of that contest. 

As Maria Guardado noted for the MLB website, San Francisco starting right-hander Anthony DeSclafani exited the contest after recording only four outs with what was initially described as right ankle discomfort. DeSclafani seemed to experience the setback while attempting to cover first base on a groundout. He attempted to remain in the game but was removed after he walked New York's Jonathan Villar.
