Giants designate All-Star outfielder Hunter Pence for assignment

Hunter Pence will be looking for a new home.

The San Francisco Giants announced Sunday that they've designated the All-Star outfielder for assignment after acquiring infielder Daniel Robertson from the Tampa Bay Rays.

Pence returned to the Giants after a stint with the Texas Rangers last season. While with the Rangers, he had a .910 OPS and earned himself a spot on the American League All-Star team.

This season, however, the 37-year-old has struggled at the plate, slashing .096/.161/.250. He re-signed with the Giants in February on a one-year, $3 million deal.

Pence helped the Giants win two World Series in 2012 and 2014.
