Mets reportedly signing OF Ender Inciarte to minor league deal

Outfielder Ender Inciarte could soon find himself back on an MLB roster. 

According to David Adler of the league's website, MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports that Inciarte has agreed to a minor league deal with the New York Mets. The one-time All-Star was most recently in the system of the New York Yankees but was released last Wednesday after he failed to make their big league roster throughout the spring. Inciarte has yet to play in an MLB game this season.

Per Feinsand, the 31-year-old will earn $1.1 million if he reaches the Mets' active roster. 

Inciarte appeared in 52 games for the Atlanta Braves during the 2021 campaign and batted .215 with two home runs and 10 RBIs. Anthony Franco of MLB Trade Rumors noted last week that Inciarte slashed .252/.336/.408 with four home runs and 11 RBIs in 34 games with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season before he was released. 

The Mets improved to 45-24 via Monday's 6-0 win over the Miami Marlins but lost second baseman Jeff McNeil to what was later confirmed to be a tight right hamstring. According to SNY, manager Buck Showalter said after the victory that McNeil considers himself "day-to-day." 

Also on Monday, the Mets promoted first baseman and outfielder Dominic Smith from Triple-A Syracuse and placed right-handed relief pitcher Seth Lugo on the paternity list.
