Mets Target Expected to Make Decision This Week
David Butler II-USA TODAY Sports

A New York Mets target is likely to make his decision this week, according to Jon Morosi of MLB Network. Morosi reports that Justin Turner, who previously spent four years with the Mets, is expected to pick a team soon.

The San Francisco Giants, Toronto Blue Jays, Chicago Cubs, and Mets could all use help at the hot corner and are expected to be in the mix.

In the 2023 season, Turner slashed .276/.345/.455 for the Boston Red Sox. He played in 146 games and hit 23 home runs. The 39-year-old not only proved that he can still play at this level, he proved he can do so with massive production.

Turner spent one season in Boston after spending nearly a decade with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was named an All-Star two times during his tenure there and finished top-10 in MVP voting twice.

Before he made his way to Los Angeles, Turner spent four seasons in New York. He had decent seasons, slashing .280/.319/.385 in his final year, but it wasn't anything compared to what he did in Los Angeles or Boston.

A Mets reunion could be intriguing for both sides.

Turner returns to a place he's familiar with and also has a chance to help New York compete in the National League.

For a team looking for ways to improve their lineup, adding a veteran who's done what he's done in this league for 15 years is an ideal solution. Despite his age, the 2020 World Series champion can still swing it with the best of them.
