The weather rained on our home run parade yesterday and canceled two of our three bets, so let's hope for a sunnier forecast around the country this time around. Here are my three favorite home run bets for Thursday's MLB slate.
We tried to bet Vladimir Guerrero Jr. to hit a home run yesterday, but the game between the Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago White Sox was postponed due to rain. Well, we've got the same pitching matchup in Game 1 Thursday, so let's try it again. Lance Lynn has given up the most home runs in MLB this season, and Guerrero is starting to find a groove with 11 hits and four homers over the last 15 days.
What a turnaround it's been for Nick Castellanos from last season to this season. The Philadelphia Phillies slugger is hitting .310 through 83 games, and he's already matched his entire home run total from last year (12). Castellanos has hit a homer in three of his last four games, and he's also homered off Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Shawn Armstrong twice in only six career at-bats against him.
Mookie Betts is one of the hottest hitters in baseball right now. The Los Angeles Dodgers star is hitting .318 with five doubles and six home runs over the last 15 days. Now he gets to face Pittsburgh Pirates righty Johan Oviedo, who's given up a home run in each of his last three starts. The wind will be blowing out to center field at Dodger Stadium Thursday night, so all signs are pointing to another Mookie bomb.
