Radio host gets epic Texas Rangers World Series tattoo

It is not uncommon for fans to get tattoos celebrating their favorite team's championships. One Dallas radio host took his tattoo to another level to celebrate the Rangers' first title in franchise history.

Sean Bass, co-host of The Sweet Spot on 96.7 FM The Ticket, showed off his new back tattoo on Wednesday. Instead of getting the World Series trophy, or a team logo with 2023 to mark the title, Bass got a full back tattoo of the box score from Game Five.

In doing so, Bass fulfilled a promise he had made back in 2010. He had been filling in for another host in mid-July, talking about how well the Rangers were playing. Bass believed the Rangers had a chance to win the championship and said that if they did, he would get the series-winning box score tattooed on his back.

While the Rangers did reach the World Series that year, they lost in five games to the Giants. 2011 provided another chance for Bass to get his tattoo, with the Rangers one strike away from the title twice. Although the Rangers returned to the postseason three times between World Series appearances, they were unable to get past their first playoff season.

Last season was a culmination of the work general manager Chris Young and ownership have put in to the roster. Young had made multiple free agent splashes, signing top free agents to shore up the lineup and rotation. Ownership gave Young carte blanche to do as he saw fit to bring a title to Arlington. Their faith in him paid off.

Bass' patience also paid off. His tattoo took four and a half hours to complete as the artist used a PDF of the box score as the template. The tattoo itself is between 12 and 13 inches long. It is also an impressive way to celebrate the Rangers championship as Bass proved to be a man of his word.
