Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

The Tampa Bay Rays added infielder Charlie Culberson on a minor league deal Thursday, with the 10-year veteran getting an invitation to major league camp at spring training, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Culberson, 33, played the past two seasons with the Texas Rangers, batting .252 with a .283 on-base percentage in 68 games last season.

The former first-round draft pick by the San Francisco Giants in 2007 is a career .248 hitter with a .293 on-base percentage and 30 home runs with 145 RBIs in 585 games with the Giants, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Atlanta Braves and Rangers.

Known for his versatility on defense, Culberson has played every position except center field and catcher in a major league game. He even has eight appearances as a pitcher, including four over the past two seasons.
