As the deadline approaches for MLB and the Players Union to reach a deal on a new CBA, the White Sox roster won’t have any further additions. Speaking at a press conference following the re-signing of Leury Garcia , general manager Rick Hahn told reporters he doesn’t expect further announcements today.

While the free-agent frenzy of the last week led to multiple big-name players landing deals with other teams, the South Siders have been relatively quiet overall. The biggest addition for the White Sox so far is relief pitcher Kendall Graveman. The right-handed reliever signed a three-year, $24 million deal that became official on Tuesday.
While the addition of Graveman and the return of Leury Garcia left fans wanting more, Hahn added that he does expect further moves to be made post-lockout.
Hahn reinforces the point the Opening Day roster is not due in December. He further expects more additions over the course of the next several months.

Plenty of free-agent options remain on the table for the White Sox. It will be interesting to see how Hahn’s strategy plays out. Nothing is a given with the current labor situation between MLB and the Players Union. Only time will tell what the new CBA will look like. How that will impact what the White Sox are able to do, or will do, is certainly something to keep an eye on.
