Roberto Clemente’s Family Had A Special Moment In NYC
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Yesterday, the entire baseball world took some time to celebrate one of the greatest players to ever play the game and one of the most well-rounded humanitarians in Roberto Clemente.

Across the league, several players wore the iconic No. 21 that Clemente donned for his entire career with the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Pirates were in Queens playing the New York Mets last night, and in a heartwarming twist, Clemente’s son and grandson were there to throw out the first pitch.

While every player on each side wore No. 21, Clemente’s grandson rocked his very own Roberto Clemente III jersey.

Father and son then tossed their respective first pitches.

Clementes Share A Moment

This is a beautiful moment.

Yesterday was without a question a very important and emotional day as baseball took the time to honor Roberto Clemente.

But what a treat for his son and grandson to be in New York together while the Pirates were there.

That had to have been a dream come true for both of them.

Baseball truly can be a beautiful sport with some heartwarming moments, just like the one we got last night with Clemente’s son and grandson.

Both of them clearly knew how important of a day yesterday was and what Clemente meant not just to Major League Baseball, but to the entire world, all thanks to his charitable efforts.

But it doesn’t get much sweeter than that.

You can bet that the two of them had a blast being present for such an important day with Clemente’s old team.

One day, Clemente’s son will be able to tell his own son just how amazing his grandfather truly was and what he meant to this world.
