Texas Rangers’ Adolis Garcia does cartwheel in batter’s box after being hit by pitch

The Texas Rangers are having some fun in Houston, already up 1-0 in the American League Championship Series and threatening in Game 2. A four-run first inning has made Astros pitcher Framber Valdez lose his control a bit, not able to hit all of his spots. He even hit Adolis Garcia with a pitch, leading to a gymnastics-type reaction.

Valdez was trying to get his 2-2 pitch to Garcia on the inside corner but missed his spot. It fell enough to hit Garcia in the foot, probably a painful experience. But his reaction sure put a smile on everyone else’s faces by doing a cartwheel into the other batter’s box.

Garcia even landed on one foot, still hobbling from the sting of being hit by a pitch. Eventually, he made his way down to first base with a non-theatrical walk. Even so, an impressive midgame cartwheel from Garcia in a playoff baseball game.

Even FOX play-by-play announcer Joe Davis was impressed with Garcia’s move. Before realizing he was hit by the pitch, Daivs said “Woo look at that cartwheel.” You see something new every time you watch a baseball game.

Adolis Garcia getting on base early in ALCS against Astros

While the Rangers took home Game 1 in Houston, Garcia did not play too big of a role offensively. He was not able to reach base and was held in check. Things are different on Monday afternoon, already reaching twice on two plate appearances through two innings.

In the first inning — one where Texas batted around — Garcia put the second run on the board coming out of the cleanup spot. He hit a single into right field, with Corey Seager coming in to score. It’s Garcia’s first RBI of the series as he continues to have success in the 2023 playoffs.

Heading into Monday’s game, Garcia had five hits to his name, hitting behind Marcus Semien, Corey Seager, and Mitch Garver. Top-of-the-lineup production is a strength of the Rangers, with Garcia sitting on five RBIs.

Plenty more at-bats are on the way for the player nicknamed El Bombi. If he does get hit by another pitch at any point, good luck making it more entertaining than a cartwheel.
