Katie Stratman-USA TODAY Sports

Right-hander Kenta Maeda signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Per the team, Maeda will pocket $14 million in 2024 and $10 million in 2025.

Maeda, 35, posted a 6-8 record with a 4.23 ERA with 117 strikeouts in 104 1/3 innings over 21 games (20 starts) last season. He did not play in 2022 after undergoing Tommy John surgery in September 2021.

After a long career in Japan, Maeda pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 2016-19 before a trade sent him to Minnesota in February 2020. He is 65-49 with a 3.92 ERA and six saves in 190 career games (155 starts) with the Dodgers and Twins.

Maeda finished third in the 2016 National Rookie of the Year voting with Los Angeles. He was second in the 2020 American Cy Young voting with Minnesota.
