Twins place pitcher Kenta Maeda on 10-day IL with right adductor strain

The Minnesota Twins have placed right-hander Kenta Maeda on the 10-day injured list with a right adductor strain, the team announced Sunday:

Maeda suffered the injury during Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Cleveland Indians. He was pulled in the sixth inning after allowing three runs.

The 33-year-old was bothered by the injury in previous starts, so Twins manager Rocco Baldelli decided to shut him down.

Maeda has struggled early this season, going 2-2 with a 5.27 ERA, 1.477 WHIP and 39 strikeouts in 42.2 innings.

The 33-year-old joins several of his teammates on the IL, including Nelson Cruz, Jorge Polanco and Byron Buxton.
