Watch: Nationals' Jon Lester hits a 419-foot HR

No one will compare Washington Nationals pitcher Jon Lester to Shohei Ohtani from the plate. Lester, 37, entered Monday’s game against the Miami Marlins with a career .108 average over the course of 17 Major League Baseball seasons.

Just don’t tell that to Miami Marlins pitcher David Hess.

With Washington up 10-0 in the bottom of the fifth Monday evening, Jon Lester took a Hess pitch deep over the right center-field fence for a no-doubt 419-foot homer.

You read that right. The career .108 hitter belted an absolute monster of a homer in front of his home fans in D.C. It was a sight to behold.

The ball exited at 104.5 miles-per-hour, making Lester’s feat even more eye-opening.

Despite his low career batting average, the five-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion did enter Monday’s game with three homers. Jon Lester last homered when he was a member of the Chicago Cubs back in 2019.
