Watch: Padres troll visiting Red Sox fans with 'Sweet Caroline' prank
Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

It’s tradition at Fenway Park for the entire stadium to sing “Sweet Caroline” in the middle of the 8th inning. That tradition got turned on its head in a way on Sunday.

The Boston Red Sox had a significant number of fans with them at Petco Park in San Diego for their series against the Padres, which was not lost on anyone at the game — or watching on television. The Padres decided to respond by queuing up “Sweet Caroline” — only to cut away for a rickroll just as the climactic chorus was to kick in.

Funny. When the Red Sox get pranked, it’s been the Yankees doing it to them in the past. The Padres got a pretty good one in here.
