Watch: Phillies Starter Walker Puts on Masterclass for Team Mexico in WBC
USA TODAY Sports

The Philadelphia Phillies signed starter Taijuan Walker this winter in order to bolster their rotation. They were missing a few pieces and Walker is supposed to be one of the solutions.

If his performance for Team Mexico on Tuesday night against Great Britain in the World Baseball Classic is any indicator, Walker may have flashed what he could be for the Phillies.

Walker pitched 4.0 innings of scoreless baseball while allowing just one hit and striking out eight. It was a masterful performance that helped lead Mexico to a 2-1 victory. Additionally, Walker touched 96 mph on his fastball, an encouraging sign as he ramps up for the season.

It also ensured that Mexico had the opportunity to advance to the quarterfinals after defeating Canada on Wednesday 10-3.

The hope is Walker can bring the experience of pitching on the big stage back to Philadelphia as they pursue another World Series run during the 2023 MLB season.

Check out some of Walker's best moments of the night.
