White Sox Injury Update: Yasmani Grandal Could Return as Early as Saturday
Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Yasmani Grandal seems to have avoided the worst-case scenario. At least according to White Sox manager Pedro Grifol.

Apparently, during pregame work on Wednesday, Grandal took a fall that left him with a sore right knee. That led to him being a late scratch from the starting lineup for the series finale against the Texas Rangers. He has been listed as day-to-day.

According to Grifol, there's a chance we could see Grandal back in the lineup as early as tomorrow. The White Sox manager went as far as to say he could also be back behind the plate tomorrow. A good sign that whatever injury Grandal suffered doesn't seem too serious.

In the meantime, Seby Zavala draws the start behind the dish for the series opener on Friday against the Boston Red Sox. Although if all goes according to plan, it seems Grandal will avoid an IL stint and make an appearance as early as Saturday.

Grandal is hitting a decent .262 on the year with five home runs, 11 doubles, 18 RBI, and 15 runs scored in 60 games. He's also hit .250 with a homer, two doubles, and three RBI in 14 games this June. So, needless to say, the Sox will be eager to have him back in the lineup as soon as possible.
