White Sox Send 7 Players to Minor League Camp in Latest Roster Moves
Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The White Sox appear to have their 26-man roster set, barring any injuries in Tuesday's Spring Training finale.

The Chicago White Sox begin the 2023 season in Houston on Thursday. One final tune-up against the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday will conclude the Spring Training slate. As they work toward finalizing their Opening Day roster, the White Sox will announce several transactions over the next few days. Seven moves were announced Monday to trim the group down as they move to solidify their 26- and 40-man rosters.

The most notable names assigned to minor league camp are outfielders Adam Haseley and fan-favorite Billy Hamilton.

Haseley put together an excellent Spring Training, hitting to the tune of .405/.421/.595 in 38 plate appearances. Hamilton makes up for what he lacks in plate production with speed and stellar outfield play across all three positions. The White Sox will call on Haseley and Hamilton to fill in during injured list stints if they remain with the organization.

The Pale Hose brought in several non-roster invitees to compete for the final bullpen spot. Closer Liam Hendriks is out indefinitely, and the front office and coaching staff gave a multitude of relievers a look in Spring Training. The Sox ultimately chose Gregory Santos, acquired in a trade with the San Francisco Giants, over veteran reliever Bryan Shaw. Shaw's future with the South Siders is unknown at this time.

Per reports on Monday, reliever Gregory Santos and infielder/outfielder Romy Gonzalez will make the opening-day Roster. In addition, Hanser Alberto and Gavin Sheets earned a spot on the team. They, along with Gonzalez and Seby Zavala, will make up the bench for the 2023 White Sox on opening day. Most notably among the cuts, longtime utility man Leury Garcia will not be on the White Sox Opening Day roster.

Nevertheless, the White Sox appear to have their 26-man roster set, barring any injuries in Tuesday's Spring Training finale.
