Bulls broadcasters have harsh words for Bucks G Grayson Allen

Grayson Allen has a history with the Chicago Bulls. The team - and the broadcasters - are sick of it.

Milwaukee's Allen took a cheap shot at DeMar DeRozan in Wednesday's Bucks-Bulls game, and color man Stacey King declared that "someone needs to give him a two-piece."

A "two-piece" in this context is a two-punch combination.

Allen got bumped and then exaggerated the contact, mock-staggered over to DeRozan, then hit DeRozan in the back with his forearm. The officials called a foul on the Bulls' Patrick Williams for the bump, but there were no technical fouls called on Allen or DeRozan.

Last year, Allen got a flagrant-two foul and an ejection for knocking the Bulls' Alex Caruso out of mid-air on a fast break, which broke Caruso's wrist and knocked him out for seven weeks. The NBA suspended Allen for one game. Bulls coach Billy Donovan was furious afterward, calling the play "really dangerous" and citing Allen's history of dirty plays stretching back to his time at Duke, when Allen was caught intentionally tripping opposing players at least three times.

As a rookie, Allen fought with Trae Young in Summer League. In his second season, he got ejected - from a Summer League game! - for back-to-back flagrant fouls on Grant Williams.

DeRozan said it was Allen's history of dirty plays that caused him to react, telling reporters, "It's his track record. If it was Boban [Marjanovic], I wouldn’t have done nothing."

Still, it's somewhat unprecedented for an NBA announcer to advocate for a player to get beat up. King started off by saying "Somebody needs to give him a two-piece. I guarantee he'll stop doing that." King clarified, "Somebody pop him upside the head a couple of times, he'll stop doing that. He's getting away with this way too much!"

Ultimately, the Bulls got their revenge during the game. Chicago made up an 11-point deficit in the final 2:18, before winning in overtime. Allen missed 11 of his 14 three-point attempts, including two during the Bulls' big comeback.

The win also elevated the Bulls into the Eastern Conference's final play-in spot. If these two teams end up facing off in the playoffs, it's going to get feisty, whether there's a two-piece or not.
