Cavaliers’ Jarrett Allen Provides Massive Update On His Ankle Injury
David Richard-USA TODAY Sports

During an interview with Sam Yip of HoopsHype, Cleveland Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen provided a massive update on his left ankle injury.

Allen missed the first five games of the season because of his left ankle ailment.

“It’s feeling great,” Allen said. “Actually, I haven’t felt it anymore. All the time off really healed it. I was just trying to get back into my body again.”

Allen has appeared in eight games for the Cavaliers this season. He’s averaging 12.0 points, 7.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 blocks while shooting 63.5% from the field and 73.2% from the free-throw line.

The 25-year-old Allen told Yip that he’s “pretty sure” his minute restriction “is at my regular playing time now.”

“I don’t really know to be honest with you, I’m pretty sure the minute restriction is at my regular playing time now,” Allen said. “So I’m good to go playing normal now. It’s just getting my wind back at this point. I feel about 90 percent out there. There’s still some stuff that I got to get used to in terms of just timing [or] whether it’s pick and rolls or just guarding somebody. But other than that, I feel like I’m close.”

The Cavaliers are 7-6 on the season. They are looking to make the playoffs for the second year in a row. During the offseason, Allen worked on his playmaking to help Cleveland become more dynamic on offense.

“For me, it’s playmaking, like catching it in the pocket and whether it’s a one dribble drive to the rim or hitting an open man,” Allen said. “That’s something that I really took to heart this year knowing that we’re gonna add extra spacing and extra people to knock down shots.”
