KD Passes Mavs Legend in 3-Pointers
Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

Kevin Durant added another feather in the cap of his illustrious career on Tuesday, and this time, it came at the expense of Dallas Mavericks legend and Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki

The Phoenix Suns star surpassed Nowitzki in 3-pointers made in their 117-107 win over the Denver Nuggets in overtime at Ball Arena. Durant made three 3-pointers, which moved him to 1,983 in his career. Nowitzki made 1,982 in his 21-year NBA career.

Nowitzki is a 14-time All-Star, 12-time All-NBA, won the NBA Finals and was the Finals MVP in 2011, won the MVP in 2007 and is a member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.

Durant scored 35 points and had eight rebounds plus five assists against the Nuggets. He tied Nowitzki in 3-pointers with the first 3-pointer he made in overtime, then surpassed him with the second triple he drained to put Phoenix up by the final score.

Now, Durant has another former Mavs player in his sights in 3-pointers made. The Suns forward only trails Mavs head coach Jason Kidd by five to tie him for 16th all-time in 3-pointers made.
