NBA Analyst Expects Lakers To Make This Bold Trade
Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Lakers are going to have a busy 2024 NBA offseason. LeBron James hitting free agency will be the most important thing on the Lakers’ to-do list to figure out, as they need him to remain part of the roster.

Once James is locked in, Rob Pelinka can get to work on upgrading the roster around him and Anthony Davis. In many people’s opinions, the biggest upgrade can come on the sidelines, where Darvin Ham has left a lot to be desired.

Replacing him with a more established head coach could result in the Lakers catapulting up the standings. It seems as if he has lost the locker room as several clips have gone viral of players just ignoring him in huddles. Ham also has a tendency to not make adjustments in games, just watching his teams fall apart late in games.

While that is a change that could occur, changes to the roster are likely on the horizon as well. The Lakers are always star-chasing and the 2024 NBA Offseason likely isn’t going to be any different.

Who could they look to target? In the opinion of Colin Cowherd, Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is going to end up in Los Angeles this offseason. During a recent segment on his show, he revealed the bold prediction, as he believes the Hawks are going to break up their current backcourt of Young and Dejounte Murray.

There are a lot of signs that point toward Young being a target for the Lakers during the 2024 NBA offseason. They have the assets to be aggressive on the trade market and Young is a Klutch client, which automatically makes the Lakers a suitor.

A lot can happen between now and when trade negotiations are held in the offseason, but it feels like a matter of when, not if, Young is traded. The Hawks need to shake things up as their current core hasn’t performed to the level they had hoped it would.
