Pacers signing James Johnson to one-year deal
Rick Osentoski-USA TODAY Sports

Free agent forward James Johnson is returning to the Indiana Pacers on a one-year contract, agent Mark Bartelstein told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Johnson, 36, is 6-foot-7 and appeared in 18 games with the Pacers last season. He was signed at the start of the year, then waived in February, then brought back less than a week later.

Before that, he appeared in 62 games with the Nets during the 2021-22 season, averaging 5.5 points and 3.5 rebounds, and staying true to his reputation of adding toughness and hustle off the bench.

He has been a journeyman of sorts, as the Pacers are his 10th team. Along with the Nets, he has served two stints with the Raptors, as well as spending time with the Mavericks, Pelicans, Bulls, Kings, Heat, Grizzlies and Timberwolves.
