Richard Sherman unloads in defense of LeBron James: ‘The standard you hold him to is insanity’

Former NFL star Richard Sherman didn't disappoint in his debut performance as a member of FS1's "Undisputed" with Skip Bayless, Michael Irvin and Keyshawn Johnson.

While Sherman had plenty to say throughout the live show, one defense of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James stood out.

During a conversation about whether James, who's 38 currently, has another championship run left in him, Sherman was quick with the defense of the future Hall of Famer.

After citing the fact that James entered the playoffs coming off an injury and essentially began the postseason at less than 100%, he drove the stake home with a line about the unfair standard that the Lakers star is held to.

"The standard that you hold him to is insanity. Imagine averaging 27.7, 9.5 rebounds, 10 assists on 51% shooting and you said he had a bad series [against Denver]," Sherman said.

Sherman was hitting on the fact that Bayless refused to give James any love for his performance in the Western Conference Finals against the Denver Nuggets. While the Lakers were swept by the eventual champions, Sherman's argument on James' production is fair and noteworthy.

Here's a look at the full clip, which features Keyshawn Johnson doubling down on the defense of James while buying fully into the fact that James is still a top MVP candidate if he's 100% healthy.
