Splash Brothers lead Warriors to gritty win over Nets

The Splash Bros are back in business.

Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson scored the last 17 points for Golden State as the Warriors grinded out a 110-106 win over the Nets Saturday night. Curry and Thompson combined for 35 points overall on the night.

The biggest play of the game came down the stretch, when after clawing their way back from as much as a 19-point deficit, the Nets cut the Warriors' lead to just one on a pair of free throws from Patty Mills. On the following possession, Curry drained much of the clock before calling for a screen from Thompson.

He didn't set the screen, however, instead bouncing over to his right as soon as his defender shifted left to help against a potential driving Curry. Thompson was left wide open, and in turn buried the three to put Golden State up by four with 12.1 seconds left to play.

The Nets wouldn't go away easily, however; just 2.5 seconds of game time later, Kyrie Irving hit a deep three to cut the lead back to one, reminiscent of the shot he hit against the Warriors in the NBA Finals back in 2016.

Irving made a mistake on the next possession, however, committing a foul away from the ball that resulted in Curry hitting a free throw and the Warriors retaining possession. Irving then fouled Thompson on the inbounds, and Thompson knocked down both free throws to ice the game.

Curry finished with 19 points, seven rebounds and eight assists, and Thompson logged 16 points and six boards. They both got off to a slow start, going a combined 2-for-13 from the field in the first half, leading others to pick up the slack in the early frames -- namely All-Star starter Andrew Wiggins, who led Golden State with 24 points.

Irving led all scorers with a season-high 32 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven assists. Mills poured in 24 points, and James Johnson added 14 off the bench.
