Watch: 76ers' Joel Embiid pulls off incredible self alley-oop dunk, gives props to Timberwolves' Anthony Edwards

Reigning MVP Joel Embiid had a big night against the Orlando Magic, scoring 36 points in a 124-109 victory and capping it off with a ridiculous self-alley-oop slam off the backboard.

Embiid explained that while he had pulled the dunk off before, it was an homage to Minnesota Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards, of whom he's pretty fond. Speaking with reporters, he revealed that Edwards inspired the dunk when he saw the former No. 1 pick complete it a night earlier

"You know, I just like to challenge myself, and Anthony Edwards is one of my favorite, top three favorite players in the league," Embiid said via NBC Sports Philadelphia. "He's up there, dude is so nice, and I saw it last night. I was like, 'Well, if he can do it, why can't I do it too?' I'm a big fan of his."

The Sixers superstar is undoubtedly having a good time recently. Playing at a high level while also winning will do that.

Embiid's impressive outing on Friday made a mark in the NBA record books. Following his 36-point effort, he has notched 1,053 points through 30 games, the 10th most in NBA history, per Stathead. He also increased his streak of 30 or more points to 19 games, which, according to the team, is the sixth-longest all-time.
