49ers announce team has re-signed Chris Conley
Robert Edwards-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco 49ers announced today that the team has re-signed WR Chris Conley to a one-year deal. Conley spent 2023 with the 49ers but only appeared in eight games. He finished the regular season with three receptions for 69 yards.

But Conley saved his best for the postseason. Although he only had two receptions for 35 yards, his catches came in big moments. In the Divisional Playoff Game against the Green Bay Packers, with the 49ers trailing 21-17, Conley brought in a 17-yard catch that moved the ball to Green Bay's 26-yard line. The 49ers scored the winning touchdown on the drive.

Then in Super Bowl LVIII, Conley hauled in an 18-yard reception in the first quarter to help set up a Jake Moody field goal. But perhaps Conely's biggest plays in the Super Bowl came on special teams.

In the first quarter, Conley tackled Kansas City punt returner, Richie James, at Chiefs' 11-yard line. Then, in the third quarter, Conley downed a Mitch Wishnowski punt at the Kansas City two-yard line. Later in the third, Conley tackled James for no gain at the Chiefs 14-yard line.

Conley will return for his second season with the 49ers.
