Bills, Sabres co-owner Kim Pegula 'progressing well' from undisclosed health issues

It was announced back on June 14 that Kim Pegula, co-owner of the NFL's Buffalo Bills and NHL's Buffalo Sabres, was receiving treatment for "some unexpected health issues."

The Pegula family released an encouraging update on the 53-year-old on Tuesday.

"Kim is progressing well and is resting and rehabilitating from a health issue," a statement reads, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. "We are grateful for the medical professionals providing her care and to everyone for their prayers and well wishes. We ask that you please continue to respect our need for privacy during this time."

Kim and Terry Pegula purchased the Sabres in 2011 and the Bills in 2014, and Kim serves as the president and CEO of Pegula Sports and Entertainment. As Alaina Getzenberg noted for ESPN, Kim oversees the business operations of the Sabres and Bills. She was admitted to a Florida hospital earlier this month because of the unspecified health issues.

The Pegulas also own the Buffalo Bandits and Rochester Knighthawks of the National Lacrosse League and the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League. Rochester is the Sabres' AHL affiliate.

Kim, meanwhile, is the first woman to be president of both an NHL and NFL franchise.
