Boston Scott has opportunity to take 'Giant slayer' role onto playoff stage

The Eagles will renew their rivalry with the Giants in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs this Saturday.

If they want to win and advance to the NFC Championship Game for the seventh time since 2000, they might want to give the ball to running back Boston Scott.

Yep, you read that right. Not Jalen Hurts, A.J. Brown or Miles Sanders... Boston Scott.

The backup running back has the Giants' number. Scott has carried the ball 86 times for 414 yards and has scored 10 total touchdowns in eight games against the Giants, per StatMuse

To put that into perspective, Scott has 282 carries, 1,209 yards and 16 touchdowns in his entire career. About a third of Scott's career rushing yards were gained against the Giants.

Scott's trend of standout performances against the Giants has carried over into this season, as he rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns against them.

The Giants are 2-6 against the Eagles when Scott plays, Per Pro Football Reference

Interesting enough, the best game of Scott's career came against the Giants. In the season finale of the 2019 regular season, he scored three touchdowns against the G-Men.

Similarly, he caught the game-winning touchdown against them in Week 7 of the 2020 season.

Standing at 5-foot-6, 203 pounds, Scott is The Giant Slayer.

Scott's dominance against the Giants has turned into a meme-worthy occasion across the football world. But it's no laughing matter for Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale.

Martindale denied that Scott is a 'Giant Killer' in a recent press conference. The numbers don't lie, but it appears Martindale is ready to shut down Scott in the Giants most important game since beating the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

Scott, a LA Tech alum, was drafted by the Eagles in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He succeeded Darren Sproles, another short running back, as the team's backup running back.
