Chiefs WR Demarcus Robinson cleared from COVID-19 list ahead of Super Bowl

The Kansas City Chiefs are halfway past what could've become a COVID-19 catastrophe. 

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero (h/t Kevin Patra) reported on Friday that Chiefs wide receiver Demarcus Robinson has been cleared to practice and, thus, will be off the reserve/COVID-19 list by the end of the day. 

Robinson and backup center Daniel Kilgore were placed on the list Monday after they were deemed high-risk close contacts. The pair had tested negative for the coronavirus through Thursday, however, and it was assumed Robinson would be cleared to return to team activities by Friday afternoon or evening. 

Kilgore won't be cleared before Saturday morning at the earliest.

The pair controversially entered the reserve/COVID-19 list after a barber offering haircuts to Kilgore and other members of the Chiefs last Sunday returned a positive virus test. Reigning Super Bowl Most Valuable Player Patrick Mahomes was among Kansas City personnel awaiting a haircut when the Chiefs removed the barber from scheduled appointments. 

Robinson has tallied only a single reception in the playoffs heading into the Super Bowl LV matchup versus the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Raymond James Stadium, but he finished the regular season third on the Chiefs with 45 catches. The 26-year-old also tallied 466 receiving yards and three touchdowns. 

The Chiefs and Buccaneers both recorded zero positive COVID-19 tests on Friday morning.
