Colts add 2020 2nd round pick
USA TODAY Sports

The Indianapolis Colts added a 2020 2nd-round pick on Tuesday.

The team announced the signing of DT Ross Blacklock

The Houston Texans drafted DT Ross Blacklock out of Texas Christian University (TCU) with the 40th pick in the 2nd round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Texans, where he appeared in 29 games and started three. He totaled 36 tackles, two sacks, and three tackles for a loss.

Blacklock was traded to the Minnesota Vikings prior to the 2022 season, he only spent one season with the team before signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars before the 2023 season. He appeared in one game with the Jaguars before being released on Monday, October 23rd.

He now joins the Colts, which is his third team inside of the AFC South. I reached out to Blacklock's offseason trainer Eddy McGilvra, who also trains Colts defensive linemen Kwity Paye and Dayo Odeyingbo. And he offered some thoughts on the player the Colts are getting in Ross Blacklock:

"Extremely well-rounded DT. Can play all positions inside & has experience on the Edge in other packages. Great get off & hand placement from the jump. Really good at locking out and holding ground vs double teams. Underrated pass rusher with great twitch! Perfect for the Gus scheme gonna help the Colts a lot."
