Cowboys select potential CeeDee Lamb complement in latest mock draft

Tennessee WR Jalin Hyatt could be the CeeDee Lamb complement and Amari Cooper successor the Cowboys crave.

According to Pro Football Focus' latest mock draft, Dallas will draft Hyatt at No. 26 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft.

"Hyatt brings the kind of juice the Cowboys were missing in 2022 at WR," wrote PFF's Michael Renner. "His 677 yards on deep receptions led all of college football this past season."

Hyatt was fifth in receiving yards (1,267), helping him earn the 2022 Biletnikoff Award, given to the FBS' top WR.

Dallas covets a deep-ball threat because its passing offense stalled after it traded Cooper, a four-time Pro Bowler, to Cleveland. The Cowboys fell from second in passing yards in 2021 to 14th in 2022.

Lamb solidified himself as a No. 1 option, catching 107 receptions, tied for fifth in the league. But Dallas' second-straight playoff loss to the 49ers highlighted why they need reinforcements.

Dallas recorded 206 passing yards in the 19-12 playoff defeat, and Lamb had 117 receiving yards on 10 receptions. Dallas' second-leading receiver Dalton Schultz had 27 yards on five receptions.

Dallas wants someone who can mirror Lamb or Cooper. Like Lamb and Cooper, Hyatt flashed his playmaking knack during his final college season.

In 12 games, Hyatt caught 15 receiving TDs, tied for second in the country. Lamb recorded 14 receiving TDs in 13 games in his last season at Oklahoma, while Cooper posted 16 in 14 games at Alabama.

Hyatt will need to gain muscle to fit the NFL mold, as he weighs only 180 pounds. Lamb weighs 200 pounds, and Cooper weighs 210 pounds.

Despite the concerns about physical build, Hyatt should be atop the Cowboys' draft board.
